The President's Pregnant, Ex-Wife-Chapter 396 - You are as beautiful as the sunrise
Chapter 396: Chapter 396 - You are as beautiful as the sunrise
"Ethel, how could you?" Cecilia asked angrily, unable to control her temper. The atmosphere was tense, and she tried to hold it in, but the sight of Ethel brought back so many bitter-sweet memories that Cecilia could not let go of.
Ethel was sorrowful, but regret was far from her. She was ready to go to jail if that would make Cecilia happy.
However, if the opportunity presented itself again, she knew that she would still not change the hands of time.
"I know that my actions were wrong, but Jacob is all I have after Ronald refused to love me," Ethel complained bitterly. She was good looking for her age, and if not told, no one would even know that she was sick.
"You can’t force a man to love you," Cecilia shot back. Not even the aroma of the delicacies on the dining table was enough to ease the tension, as neither Cecilia nor Ethel were ready to back down.
They were standing facing each other.
"I realized it too late," Ethel said with a sad smile as Cecilia said to her, "And you could have met the man destined for you, but you sealed your own fate when you took what didn’t belong to you."
Sorrow flashed in Ethel’s eyes as she recounted, "I’ve met prominent men, all of whom wanted to marry me, but I could never love any of them the way I loved Ronald."
It was obvious that Ethel’s obsession with Roland was extreme. Even after his death, she still could not get over whatever she felt for him.
"It’s all in the past, and I must confess that you did a great job with Jacob. Now let’s eat. You must all be hungry," Cecilia finally calmed down and spoke.
"I’m starving," Robin said and pulled a chair for Sabrina. Jacob sat down with Ethel, but his gaze remained on Sabrina. Robin was uncomfortable and said, "JJ, I don’t think I would allow you to spend the night her anymore. At least you have met grandma."
Everybody at the table was shocked, but Jacob was rather amused. At least he had the understanding that Sabrina was now beyond reach.
How he wished he had met her even during the time of their divorce. He was certain to have made Sabrina forget Robin.
"Hahaha, RJ, is it wrong for me to admire my sister-in-law’s beauty?" Jacob sipped wine and spoke.
Robin was a little relaxed because he addressed Sabrina as a sister-in-law and said, "I’m glad you now accept her as your sister-in-law."
Jacob’s lips curled up slightly as he spoke, "I wouldn’t have done that if you hadn’t been smart enough to marry her so quickly."
Grandma was pleased with how Robin made light of the situation after Jacob agreed to give up his pursuit of his twin brother’s wife. "I’m glad you two are getting along."
Robin smiled and asked Jacob, "Now that we’ve come to terms, why don’t you settle here in New York City?" freewёbnoνel.com
Jacob was sipping more wine than eating. "What happens to my businesses? I only came here to destroy you anyway," he said honestly, drinking to his loss.
It was very hard for him to be attracted to any woman, and Sabrina managed to win his heart at first sight.
Sadly, she was already married to his twin brother.
"But you also made a discovery," Robin reminded him.
However, it would be very difficult for Jacob to settle anywhere around New York City where news about Robin and Sabrina kept trending.
"Well, I’m still a bachelor and since I haven’t seen a woman who catches my eye like my sister-in-law, I need to travel the world to find her."
Ethel was instantly disturbed by the revelation and asked, "And who would take care of me?"
Jacob smiled and said to her, "You know that I will always take you along."
After more friendly chats and bickering between the twin brothers, dinner came to a close. As the women went to bed, Robin had a lengthy chat with his brother, learning about his childhood, youth, and old age.
It was late before they both went to bed, feeling as if they had known each other for a long time.
Sabrina was the first to wake up the next morning since Robin had stayed up late chatting with his twin brother.
She didn’t want to wake him and decided to make Robin a packed lunch. She also knew the chef would be making breakfast by now, so she wanted to make Robin’s lunch herself. After all, she was just lazing about at home while her father managed the company with Devin and Lizzy’s help.
The only mistake in her plan was the fact that she had forgotten about their visitors from last night, and the moment she descended the stairs, Jacob sat on the sofa sipping hot coffee as if he owned the villa, while reading the morning news.
With his gaze focused on the newspaper, he spoke to Sabrina from where she stood on the stairs.
"Sister-in-law, you are as beautiful as the sunrise."
Sabrina’s teeth gritted instantly as she turned to Jacob and spoke from the stairs where she was still standing.
Good morning, Jacob. I hope you slept well," she asked with a serious expression. Jacob smiled, crossed his legs, and took a sip of his coffee.
"I wouldn’t have woken up so early if I did, but don’t worry. I understand that you’re married to my twin brother. Let’s just keep things casual," he replied.
Sabrina breathed a sigh of relief and headed towards the kitchen. "I’m going to make Robin’s lunch. What do you like?" she asked, trying to be friendly to her brother-in-law.
Jacob followed her to the kitchen, and fortunately, the chef was already there. This time, Sabrina didn’t send him away and said, "You can prepare the usual dishes. I’ll make a packed lunch for Robin."
The chef agreed, "Yes, ma’am. Breakfast will be ready soon."
With the kitchen being spacious, Jacob leaned against the wall and watched Sabrina cook until her phone started ringing.
"Mrs. Jewel, Mr. Jewel told me to accompany you at home and I’m already at the gate. Can you speak to the security?" Laura asked from the other end of the line. An idea came to Sabrina’s mind as she turned to Jacob and asked, "Can you do me a favor?"
