Chapter 542: 542. Aftermath

Uncle Matthias continued to make his way to Uncle Darien’s place.

At this time, he was looking around him and glanced in one direction before seeing Dylan and Anna jumped down from the tree. From their action, it was easy to guess that this was not the first time they have done something like this.

"It’s raining, you two brats should go back soon." Uncle Matthias scolded when he saw these two didn’t even bring any umbrella.

"Ah?" Anna blinked her eyes and turned to look at Dylan, who formed an umbrella with his ice to cover the two of them. Even if the temperature was a bit cold because it was ice, but this was nothing much for both of them.

After all, both Dylan and Anna’s physical strength has been strengthened by their ability. Thus, even if they were to use an umbrella made of ice, it would not be a problem.

"Meow." You forgot about me!

Kitty jumped down after Dylan and Anna. He glared at Uncle Matthias who seemed to forget that he was also there and still following the two of them.

After that, Kitty squeezed not far from Dylan and Anna’s legs. The umbrella made of ice that Dylan used was not very big, so he had to stay close to the two of them if he didn’t want to be wet from the rain.

"Do you have to use your ability so extravagantly?" Uncle Matthias looked at Dylan’s action and felt speechless. A normal umbrella would be enough and there was no need to make an umbrella specifically, right?

But thinking that these two brats were indeed very powerful, Uncle Matthias swallowed the complain that was about to come out.

Forget it.

He would not meddle in their business.

"Darien asked you to come here?" Uncle Matthias asked.

Dylan shrugged. "Uncle is a bit worried that there would be a mess. Besides, we’re just around the area to do a small mission."

A small mission?

Uncle Matthias’ lips twitched. He believed that the mission that would be hard for other people would be extremely easy for Dylan and Anna.

However, he didn’t linger and let these two people came with him.

"I’m going to see Darien. You two come with me."

"Is it fine to meet directly?" Dylan asked. He heard from Mark and Lucas that the three leaders couldn’t really meet each other openly because it wouldn’t look so good on the surface.

After all, the three families were really close and it was hard to guess whether it would really be good or not in the long run.

If one of them ended up being targeted by either the Mason family or the Davis Family, it wouldn’t be good.

"There’s no need to worry so much now." Uncle Matthias waved his hand. "The remnants of the Davis Family would be sent to fight the big mutated animals or other works while those whom they recruited would be sent out to do some other missions too."

The base would not kill awakened so easily.

So the best way was to squeeze the last bit of value from these awakened as their base still needed a lot of work.

Of course, to make sure that they couldn’t run away, they would send the information about these people and what their ’group’ had done. It was estimated that they would never be accepted in any other official base.

As for the private base?

The private base has their own rule, but it was estimated that people from this kind of group who could even cause internal problem by killing other awakened in the same base would not receive good treatment.

In other words, their good days would be over~.

"I see." Anna nodded.

These people’s works have been calculated so clearly. She felt that these old foxes must have thought that the Davis Family and the Mason Family couldn’t really go with each other after tearing the other party’s face.

Now that the fight broke out, there were still some people who were left in their group but it was impossible to kill all of them.

The best method was naturally to make a good use of them.

Anyway, these people were sent to their door to do work, why shouldn’t they accept it?

It would be better this way.

There would be more and more big mutated animals out there and if their ability could be increased, it would be very good.

"You are all very cunning." Dylan shook his head. "How do you know that they would make a move tonight?"

"We have people watching these two," Uncle Matthias replied simply.

There was nothing wrong with him admitting this thing. After all, the fact that they sent some people to be spies in the other factions was not exactly a secret. It was just that most people tried to turn a blind eye to this situation and would not be willing to expose it.

They simply maintained the peaceful relationship on the surface.

Dylan nodded.

The three families have good relationship, but it couldn’t be said that they completely trust each other.

After all, no matter where and when, one’s interest would definitely come first.

Dylan understood this very well because his grandfather had taught him a lot over the years. There were many things that he didn’t quite understand but finding a true friend who would care whether it was in difficulties or not would be very difficult.

They continued their way towards Uncle Darien’s office.

As they entered the building, the guards didn’t stop them, apparently already knew that these three people plus a cat would come here.

"Darien should have known what had happened." Uncle Matthias sighed.

"I told him," Dylan said simply.

Uncle Matthias: "..."

And here he thought that Uncle Darien’s method was getting more and more sophisticated that he planted some people that Uncle Matthias didn’t realize.

Who would have thought that it was Dylan who actually told him?
